Paul Sauer 2014

A noble Cuvee and the flagship of the winery Kanonkop, which is located on the lower slopes of the Simonsberg in the Stellenbosch region of the Western Cape province. The canopic head Paul Sauer is of dense, powerful structure and soft elegance, with spicy aromas and ripe fruit taste. An amazing wine, something very special!

In the glass, the canopic head Paul Sauer shows a dense ruby ​​red. Somewhat restrained aromas of ripe berries and spice on the nose. It unfolds with air and the aromas become clearer. The palate follows a dense and complex body. With well-integrated acidity and strong, fine-grained and silky tannins. The aromas are reminiscent of dark berries, cassis, sour cherries but also a very fine wood. Vanilla, cloves, some cinnamon. Everything well dosed. A well balanced, delicate and very elegant wine. The finish is dry and long.

A traditional blend of about 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc and 15% Merlot. It will be aged 22-26 months in new 225l French Neverfässer. The wine is often referred to as more elegant than the straightforward Cabernet Sauvignon. It is a wine that is not necessarily suspected from the Cape.
