Broken Barrel TNT 2024
(1,5 l/Magnum)
IN THE VINEYARD:
The Broken Barrel T’nT 2024 explodes with energy, a bold fusion of Tempranillo, Tannat, and Durif. Each variety was grown on distinct parcels across the Coastal Region, chosen for their intensity and balance. The vineyards thrive in decomposed granite and koffieklip soils, benefiting from warm days and cool evening breezes that help retain natural acidity and lift.
HARVEST DATE:
Mid to late March 2024
WINEMAKING:
True to the adventurous Broken Barrel spirit, each component was vinified separately before blending. After gentle destemming and fermentation in open-top tanks, the wines were basket-pressed and matured for 16 months in a mix of French and American oak. The result: a blend that marries Tempranillo’s dark fruit and savoury spice with Tannat’s grip and Durif’s brooding depth.
TASTING NOTE:
A dense ruby hue reveals a nose of blackcurrant, mulberry, and warm spice with a whisper of smoked oak. The palate bursts with layers of dark fruit, cocoa, and wild herbs, framed by firm but well-integrated tannins. Powerful yet polished, this vintage carries a long, resonant finish, the kind that lingers long after the glass is empty.
FOOD RECOMMENDATION:
A natural partner for rich, flavour-driven meals, think flame-grilled steaks, braised short ribs, or slow-roasted lamb. It also pairs beautifully with aged cheddar, biltong, or hearty vegetarian dishes like mushroom and lentil pie.
